The Greenville Health Authority board (GHA) has awarded Clemson University a total of $2.66 million for diabetes prevention efforts and scholarships to increase diversity in the nurse practitioner workforce.
 
Testing the wind: Clemson engineers work to make buildings stronger in face of storms

In a nondescript industrial steel building not far from Clemson University's main campus, civil engineers fire two-by-four lumber out of an air cannon and test model buildings in a 50-mph wind tunnel to study the damaging effects of high-speed winds, like those created by tornadoes and by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
 
Clemson’s Dara Park plants seeds of knowledge to help a nation in need

Clemson University soil and water specialist Dara Park spent two weeks in West Africa this summer teaching farmers in the country of Guinea-Conakry how to boost productivity amid pressures from poor water quality and soil fertility. Most farmers in the country must relocate their farms every three to five years because the land becomes devoid of nutrients.

One, two, three… five, six, seven. That’s the eight-count beat many instructors use to teach beginners a hot and very popular dance move. The four and eight count are a given and you can find out why Saturday at sunset when Clemson University students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities unleash the “rhythm of the night” at the amphitheater for "Salsa at Sunset."
 
New program will grow advanced materials education, research, economy statewide

South Carolina’s position as a national leader in advanced materials just got a giant boost. A team of researchers from 10 universities across the state has received a $20 million, five-year grant from the National Science Foundation’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) to establish a new initiative: Materials Assembly and Design Excellence in South Carolina, or MADE in SC.
